Profiterole Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:

    • 1 cup water

    • 100 grams butter

    • 1 cup all-purpose flour

    • 1/4 teaspoon salt

    • 3 large eggs

  • For the Cream Filling:

    • 2 cups milk

    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

    • 2 egg yolks

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • For the Chocolate Sauce:

    • 100 grams dark chocolate

    • 100 ml cream

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a saucepan, bring the water and butter to a boil. Once the butter is melted, add the salt.

    • Add the flour all at once and stir until the mixture forms a smooth dough that pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat.

    • Let the dough cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth.

  2. Bake the Dough:

    • Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).

    • Using a spoon or piping bag, drop small mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. After baking, leave the oven door slightly open to let them cool.

  3. Prepare the Cream Filling:

    • In a saucepan, heat the milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until it comes to a boil.

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and flour. Gradually add a little hot milk to the egg mixture and whisk quickly. Then return this mixture to the saucepan.

    • Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.

  4. Prepare the Chocolate Sauce:

    • In a small saucepan, melt the dark chocolate and cream together over low heat, stirring until smooth.

  5. Fill the Profiteroles:

    • Once cooled, make a small hole in the bottom of each profiterole or cut a slit in the side. Fill with the prepared cream.

  6. Serve:

    • Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the filled profiteroles and serve immediately.
